LMS ESTORIL - AF Corse champion of the Le Mans Series

AF Corse is the undisputed ruler of the 2011 Le
Mans Series. The victory of the championship (category GTE Pro) with one
race in advance - it arrived on September 11th at Silverstone - confirms the
great season of the Italian team and the winning duo, composed by Giancarlo
Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni on Ferrari 458 Italia GT2. The results of
Estoril, therefore, are not the true “mirror” of the AF Corse’s season.

The champion car, the Ferrari 458 Italy number 51, has retired after 11 laps
for a mechanical problem.

Toni Vilander and Jaime Melo, on Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 #71, took the
chequered flag of the Portoguese race in the fourth position (GTE Pro). They
had the concrete chance to gain the first position at the end of the 6 hours
race but a crash with another car wasted the good works of all the weekend.
They are fourth in the championship.

There is a hint of bitterness for Piergiuseppe Perazzini, Marco Cioci and
Stephane Lemeret. On their Ferrari 430 GT2 #61, the three drivers finished
at Estoril in fourth place. They was in the first position for a long time
but a problem with a suspension slowed down the pace. They were ten points
from the category title of GTE Am and needed a victory. Despite everything,
Perazzini-Cioci-Lemeret were fantastic protagonists of the 2011 Le Mans
Series. The three drivers finished the championship in the second place,
with the “Silver”.

AF Corse, with the 458 of Fisichella-Bruni, won also the Michelin Green X
Challenge among the GTE Pro cars.
