Ferrari Challenge prepares for the Finali with Vallelunga victories

The sixth round of the Italian Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli took place today at Vallelunga’s Piero Taruffi circuit. Over the course of the weekend, no less than 24 cars took to the track in the hunt for championship points prior to final round at Mugello in November. Repeating the success of last year, there were over 28.000 spectators watching the packed racing programme at the track outside Rome.
Both races were won by Matteo Malucelli who made it to the top step of the podium, repeating his performance from the previous round at Mugello. In the Trofeo Pirelli category, Malucelli was the winner of the first race, which featured some hard but perfectly legitimate battles. The Motor/Malucelli team driver crossed the line ahead of Lorenzo Bontempelli (Kessel Racing) and Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa). As for the Coppa Shell, Daniele Di Amato (CDP) emerged on top, confirming his strong showing in yesterday’s qualifying, ahead of Mario Molteni (Rossocorsa) and Benedetto Marti (Motor/Piacenza), while Andrea Belluzzi (Motor/Modena) was first past the post of those runners using the F430, followed home by Giovanni Cappelletti (Rossocorsa/Pellin) and Sossio Del Prete (CDP).
In the second race, Malucelli picked up another win, after a tight duel with Lorenzo Bontempelli Behind them in third was Stefano Gai with this result maintains the lead in the championship with a 16 point advantage over Bontempelli. In the Coppa Shell, victory went to Vincenzo Sauto (Ineco/MP), with Andrii Kruglyk (Rossocorsa) and Benedetto Marti (Motor/Piacenza), second and third respectively, while best of the F430 runners was again Andrea Belluzzi who thus pulls away in the lead with a 44 point advantage over Del Prete. In the second race, Belluzzi took the flag ahead of Giosuè Rizzuto (Motor/Modena) and Giovanni Cappelletti (Rossocorsa/Pellin).
The Italian series of the one-make championship will be back on track over the weekend of 2 to 4 November at the Finali Mondiali Ferrari, the event which marks the end of the Corse Clienti season and provides a great opportunity for race fans to admire the beautiful cars entered in the XX and F1 Clienti programmes, running in free practice sessions on the Tuscan track.
