GT Sprint - Black Team Ferrari make clean sweep of front row at Monza

At the same meeting as the first round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe, the Monza circuit is also hosting the season opener for the International GT Sprint Series. Today was given over to qualifying, which ended with two Ferraris entered by the Black team dominating proceedings. Pole went to the Pellegrinelli-Giammaria F430GTC in a time of 1.49.467, with the sister 458 GT2 driven by Andrea Palma alongside in 1.50.828. Between the two Maranello machines are the Porsche 997 driven by Italy’s Glauco Solieri (1.51.681) driving for the Autorlando team, ahead of the RC Motorsport Corvette in the hands of Del Castello-Benedet, (1.52.158.)

Right in the dying moments of the session, fifth place was lifted by the Ukranian Alexander Gayday at the wheel of another Stuttgart car in 1.54.588, just beating the Scuderia Baldini crew of Alessandro Bernasconi and Lorenzo Case (F430) who set a time of 1.54.836 who start from the third row tomorrow. Eighth best time in 1.56.088 for the Kessel Racing F430 in the hands of Roberto Delli Guanti and Gianfranco Bocellari.

Tomorrow features Race 1 at 08.50 with the second start taking place at 14.05.
