ELMS – Ferrari podium at Paul Ricard

Maranello, 1 April

The 2012 European Le Mans Series got underway with an all-Ferrari podium at the Le Castellet 1000 km race. The six hour marathon held at the Paul Ricard HTTT, saw victory in the LM GTE PRO class go to the JMW Motorsport 458 GT2 which had already taken part in this race last year. It was crewed by Walker-Cocker, who did a good job of managing their fuel consumption, needing one less stop than their main rivals, the Melo-Frezza JMB car, whom they beat by just a second, followed closely by the Kessel Racing Ferrari driven by Peter-Broniszewaki.

The other Maranelloo car in the LM GTE AM category did not fare so well, with the top two steps of the podium going to the Porsches. Third was the JMB Racing Ferrari 458 of Ferte-Illiano, while out of the running was the AF Corse Ferrari in the hands of Cioci-Griffin-Perazzini.

The next round takes place over the weekend of 20 May at the Zolder circuit.
