Spanish GP - Alonso on the podium in home race

Fernando Alonso brought his Ferrari home in second place in his home race, the Spanish Grand Prix. This result in the fifth round of the championship sees the Asturian lead the Drivers’ classification equal on points with Sebastian Vettel. He took the lead going into the first corner and managed the situation almost to half distance. After that, the lead switched to Pastor Maldonaldo in the Williams who went on to win. Third was Kimi Raikkonen for Lotus, while in the other F2012, Felipe Massa was less fortunate. After making up five places at the start, he ended up down the back because of a penalty, eventually ending up fifteenth. After a two week break, the action moves onto the street circuit of Monaco, over the weekend of 27 May.
