ALMS - Ferrari fifth in the Laguna Seca 6 Hours

The Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway, in Monterey was the backdrop for the third round of the American Le Mans Series, hosting the famous Californian 6 hour race. It produced a thrilling spectacle, especially in the GT class, with lots of duels and the first seven cars all very close at the flag. Of the two Ferraris entered by Extreme Speed, the best result was a fifth place for Scott Sharp and Johannes Van Overbeek, preceding the two Porsches of Bergmeister-Lietz and Henzler-Sellers entered by Flying Lizard and Falken Tire respectively.
The win went to the Corvette of Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, who were helped when Jorg Bergmeister was given a penalty in his Flying Lizard Porsche, who found himself third thanks to a quicker refueling during a yellow flag period. Second was the sister car of Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen, followed by the two BMWs of Bill Auberlen-Jorg Mueller and Joey Hand-Dirk Mueller, the latter colliding with the second Extreme Sport Ferrari driven by Guy Cosmo in the early stages of the race, in turn hit a bit later by the Aston Martin Vantage of Fernandez-Turner-Mucke, which meant the Maranello car could do no better than eleventh, while it cost the Aston Martin a penalty that definitively put it out of the race. The next round of the American series is on 7 July at Lime Rock, Arkansas.
