European Ferrari Challenge at Spa Balzan triumphs in the rain Daniele Di Amato and Basov dominate Coppa Shell

The legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit witnessed Alessandro Balzan take another double win, just as he did in the previous round in Budapest and Mugello. The Ferrari Moscow driver, had the upper hand over the entire field, producing two perfect drives, always on the attack despite the incessant rain which plagued this fifth round, to dominate the Trofeo Pirelli. It seems that rain or shine, Balzan is always in front, followed by his team-mate Bjorn Grossmann, his closest rival, who finished second after some spectacular duels which confirmed the supremacy of the Ferrari Moscow team in Belgium. Third in Race 1 was Robert Pergl (Scuderia Praha) who finished 22 seconds down on the leaders. In Race 2, it was Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli) who was back on the podium, who has been moving up the order since the start of the season.
Race 1 of the Coppa Shell was started behind the Safety Car because of the amount of water on track and the victory went to pole man Daniele Di Amato (CDP,) the only man capable of breaking the dominance of the Russian team, that nevertheless finished second with Alexey Basov. Third was Raffaele Giannoni (Motor/Piacenza.) Race 2 of the Coppa Shell rounded off the Belgian weekend and featured plenty of fights and passing moves, which made the result far from clear right up to the final lap: in the end, Basov was first past the chequered flag, ahead of Raffaelo Giannoni and Giacomo Stratta (Forza Service.) In the Coppa Giovani, the prize in Race 1 went to Patrick Gobbo (Rossocorsa Pellin) while in Race 2 it was Alexandr Skryabin (Ferrari Moscow). Of the gentleman drivers battling for the Coppa Gentleman top honours went to Fons Scheltema (Kessel Racing) and Daniel Künzli (Kessel Racing).
