GT Open – Ferrari in the points in the Hungaroring

A positive weekend for Ferrari at the Hungaroring circuit for the sixth round of the International GT Open series. AF Corse took the runner up spot in Race 1 with an excellent performance from Federico Leo and Gianmaria Bruni and then a fourth place overall in Race 2, when Bruni in particular drove a very aggressive stint which saw him get past the Marco Holzer Porsche right on the very last lap, after an amazing climb up the order. He practically wiped out the 30 second handicap imposed in the regulations. With the Hungarian event over, the Italian team is now third in the championship on 141 points, reducing the gap to the leader to 9 points. Another positive performance came from Stefano Bizzarri and Andrea Rizzoli, entered by the Amato Ferrari team in the GTS class. The crew distinguished itself in Race 1 to make it to the top step of the podium in its category, before finishing sixth in the final leg.
Scuderia Villorba (Andrea Motermini-Juan Manule Lopez) also deserve a mention with a fourth place in Race 1 and going better to the second step of the podium in Race 2. The second leg was successful in the GTS class with a victory going to Lorenzo Bontempelli, driving solo, giving the Ombra Racing Ferrari its first win. The driver from Lesmo crossed the line ahead of the Kessel Racing car crewed by Daniel Zampieri-Michael Dalle Stelle, who thus move back into the lead of the classification after the first leg did not match expectations. Third, making it an all-Ferrari podium was the car driven by Stefano Gattuso-Marco Zanuttini, also part of the Swiss team.
The next round, the penultimate one, takes place at Monza on 30 September, before the championship comes to an end in Barcelona on 4 November.
