British GP - In memory of Cabezón

For Scuderia Ferrari, the day began evoking the memory of José Froilán González, as its drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, along with Team Principal Stefano Domenicali, posed for a photo alongside a pit board dedicated to the Argentinian driver, who died on 15 June at the age of ninety. The pit board bore the date 14th July 1951, the day he won the British Grand Prix here at Silverstone, to take Ferrari’s first ever Formula 1 World Championship victory. The nickname “El Cabezon” refers to Gonzalez’s strong-willed nature and the team members also held up the steering wheel off the Ferrari 375 F1 he drove on that memorable day and next to this piece of history, was the steering wheel from the 150° Italia which Fernando Alonso used when he won the British Grand Prix in 2011, on the sixtieth anniversary of that first victory.
