ELMS - Ferrari are GTE and GTC champions

Ferrari triumphed today in the fifth and final round of this season’s European Le Mans Series. At the Paul Ricard circuit, Matt Griffin and Johnny Mowlem dominated the three hour race, leaving their closest rivals trailing a lap down thus taking victory in the GTE class, as well as finishing ninth overall. Thanks to this win, the third of the season for the Ram Racing crew and their team, they took the ELMS title for this year.
A great day for the 458 GTE was made complete with a second place for the JMW Motorsport crew of Andrea Bertolini and Joel Camthias and a fourth from the AF Corse trio of Cioci-Leo-Perazzini, as well as a fifth place for Ram Racing’s Jeannette-Montecalvo. The second AF Corse car, crewed by Blank-Mallegol-Bachelier finished eighth.
Ferrari also took the win in this round and the 2013 title in the GTC class. Fabio Babini, Kirill Ladygin and Viktor Shaitar took the Russian SMP team’s 458 to victory which became a one-two, thanks to a second place for Markozov-Persiani-Frolov. Third was another Maranello car, the 458 entered by Scuderia Villorba Corse for Hiesse-Mezard, while the third SMP Racing car driven by Salo-A. Ladygin-Rotenberg finished fifth. The all Italian AF Corse crew of Lorenzo Casé, Andrea Rizzoli e Stefano Gai only finished seventh, thus unable to fight all the way to the end for the title with its SMP Racing rivals, who led them by just five points going into this race.
