Grand-Am – Two on the podium enough for both titles

Two Ferrari 458 GT cars finished on the podium at Lime Rock in the twelfth and final round of the Grand-Am season. While the win slipped from the grasp of the 458 GT, eventually going to the Corvette driven by Aschenbach-Curran-Said, second place for Alessandro Balzan and Leh Keen was enough for the Scuderia Corsa team and the Italian driver to take the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles, while Ferrari also came out on top in the Constructors’. To complete the festivities, the second car entered by the team created by Giacomo Mattioli and Art Zafiropoulo and entrusted to Johannes van Overbeek and Jeff Westphal, came home third. The two Ferraris were the only cars in the GT class to finish on the same lap as the winner.
Less fortunate were the other two Ferraris entered. Alex Tagliani and Jeff Segal (R. Ferri/AIM Motorsport) finished seventh in class, while Emil Assentato andAnthony Lazzaro (AIM Autosport Team FXDD) were forced to retire after 105 laps, although they were classified eleventh.
