Weekend GT action at Monza, Donington and Oak Tree

It’s another busy weekend for the Ferrari 458 with GT racing in three locations. The GT Open arrives at Monza for its penultimate round and welcomes a bumper grid of Ferrari to their home track. The American Le Mans Series arrives at the Oak Tree Circuit in Virginia, also for its penultimate round. In the conclusion to its series the British GT championship arrives at the challenging British circuit Donington Park.
Of the 33 car grid contesting the Open GT round at Monza 16 of them proudly wear the Prancing Horse. All eyes will be on the driver at the top of the table Andrea Montermini in his Scuderia Villorba Corse #3 Ferrari – he currently stands at the top of the table with 204 points ahead of former team mate Luca Filippi on 168. This weekend Montermini shares the car with Davide Rigon. Behind the Ferrari pair are Pastorelli and Ramos in their Corvette with 157 points. Hot on their tail are the successful pairing of Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin, Griffin fresh from his win in the European Le Mans Series last weekend. The cars will take place in two races, the first on Saturday at 16:15 lasting 70minutes and the second on Sunday lasting 50 minutes.
The American Le Mans Series in the ninth of its ten round championship, arrives at the Oak Tree circuit in Virginia. Lee Keen and Townsend Bell drive the Team West / AJR / Boardwalk Ferrari #23 car and they are joined on the grid by the Risi Competizione #62 car driven by Olivier Beretta and Matteo Malucelli. The cars will take place in the 2 hour 45minute race starting on Saturday at 2:15pm EDT.
The culmination of the British GT Championship takes place at Donington on Sunday and four Ferrari will take to the grid. AF Corse field two cars the first for John Dhillon and Aaron Scott and the second for Jacques Duyver and Charlie Hollings – the pair have previously competed in the competition in a GTC car but are stepping up to the GT3 for this final round.
FF Corse have one car entered for regulars Gary Eastwood and Rob Barff. Completing the Ferrari line up are Paul Bailey and Andy Schulz, the pair had a debut performance in the championship in Zandvort and after a successful weekend they return in their Horse Power Racing prepared car as they continue to evaluate their options for the 2014 season. The two hour race is flagged away at 13:15 on Sunday.
