MONACO GP – MIXED FORTUNES

Monaco, 22 May –There were mixed fortunes for Scuderia Ferrari in this session, with the two F14 Ts bookending the time sheet. The Spaniard was fastest in 1.18.482, while the Finn was last, having been sidelined with a mechanical problem, which meant he only did a 1.45.509 when the track was still very damp.
A shower hit the principality shortly before the start of the second session, making the track slippery and virtually undriveable for two thirds of the 90 minutes. Kimi only managed four laps, while Alonso was one of the drivers who did the most running, completing 15 laps, only bettered by Button and Magnussen on 16. Fernando waited for the final moments to go out on track on the Supersoft tyres, enjoying himself between the barriers of the Principality, to head the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull. Tomorrow is a day off for Formula 1, which will be back in action on Saturday morning for the third free practice session.
